Saudi Arabia Expands Tourist Visa Programme to Four More Countries

Saudi Arabia has expanded its tourist visa programme by adding four new countries to the list of eligible nationalities, making it easier for more international visitors to travel to the Kingdom for tourism and other permitted purposes.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that citizens of Mexico, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia are now eligible to obtain Saudi tourist visas.

The latest decision reflects the Kingdom’s continued efforts to expand international tourism and attract visitors from a wider range of countries. By extending visa eligibility, Saudi Arabia aims to make travel more accessible and strengthen its position as an emerging global tourism destination.

Under the updated policy, citizens of the four newly included countries can apply for tourist visas to visit Saudi Arabia. The expansion is expected to provide additional travel opportunities for people interested in exploring the Kingdom’s cultural attractions, historical landmarks and modern tourism facilities.

Saudi Arabia has been working to develop its tourism industry as part of its broader economic diversification strategy. The government aims to reduce dependence on oil revenues by supporting sectors such as tourism, entertainment, hospitality and international travel.

The country has introduced several initiatives in recent years to attract foreign visitors. These efforts include developing new tourist destinations, improving travel infrastructure and expanding access to cultural and entertainment experiences.

Popular destinations such as Riyadh, Jeddah, AlUla and the Red Sea region have become important parts of Saudi Arabia’s tourism development plans. Each location offers different attractions, ranging from historical sites and traditional markets to modern entertainment facilities and luxury resorts.

AlUla, in particular, has gained international attention for its archaeological heritage and distinctive desert landscapes. Meanwhile, Jeddah attracts visitors through its coastal attractions, historic districts and growing hospitality sector.

The addition of Mexico, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia could help Saudi Arabia attract more tourists from Europe, North America and the Balkans. It may also encourage stronger tourism connections and greater cultural exchange between the Kingdom and these countries.

The visa expansion is also relevant to Saudi Arabia’s wider Vision 2030 programme, which places significant importance on developing tourism as a major contributor to economic growth. Increasing international visitor numbers is one of the key objectives of the country’s long-term development strategy.

For travellers, improved visa accessibility can make planning international trips more convenient. It also provides opportunities for visitors to experience Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage, hospitality, religious history and rapidly developing tourism sector.

With the latest announcement, Saudi Arabia continues to broaden its tourist visa access and strengthen its ambitions to become a leading destination for international travellers.
