SECP Investigates Rs. 1.92 Billion IPO of SE Fruits, Seeks Financial Records from 30 Banks

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has expanded its investigation into the proposed Rs. 1.92 billion initial public offering (IPO) of SE Fruits and Vegetable Limited, formerly known as Shaheen Enterprises. The regulator has approached 30 banks to obtain financial and foreign exchange transaction records linked to the company’s sponsors and directors.

The investigation is focused on examining the company’s financial information, export proceeds, foreign remittances and other banking transactions. The development comes after concerns emerged regarding the company’s financial disclosures and audit information submitted in connection with its planned public offering.

According to available information, the SECP has specifically sought export-related records from seven banks as part of its ongoing examination. The regulator has also requested details of foreign remittances and other foreign exchange transactions received in accounts associated with the company’s sponsors and directors.

Several banks have reportedly submitted their responses to the regulator. These records are currently being reviewed as the SECP continues examining the financial activities and documentation connected to the proposed IPO.

SE Fruits and Vegetable Limited had planned to raise up to Rs. 1.92 billion through its public share offering. The proposed IPO involved 30 million shares, with an offer price of Rs. 40 per share.

The offering was intended to provide the company with an opportunity to raise capital from the stock market. However, the proposed listing encountered regulatory scrutiny over concerns surrounding its financial information and audit arrangements.

In October, the SECP halted the IPO process. Following the regulatory intervention, the company subsequently withdrew its share offering, putting the planned fundraising exercise on hold.

The regulator’s latest action indicates that its examination is continuing even after the withdrawal of the IPO. By approaching 30 banks, the SECP is seeking to establish a clearer picture of the financial transactions associated with the company’s sponsors and directors.

The requested information includes foreign currency receipts, export earnings and other transactions that could help regulators assess the financial records submitted by the parties involved.

The investigation also highlights the importance of accurate financial disclosures and transparent auditing procedures for companies seeking to raise funds through Pakistan’s capital market. IPO applicants are expected to provide reliable financial information so that investors can make informed decisions.

For potential investors, regulatory scrutiny plays an important role in maintaining confidence in the stock market. Proper verification of financial statements, banking records and shareholder information can help identify inconsistencies before companies access public investment.

The SECP has not indicated a final outcome of the investigation in the available information. The review of banking responses and other submitted documents remains ongoing.

The case involving SE Fruits and Vegetable Limited is therefore still under regulatory examination, with further developments likely to depend on the findings of the SECP’s review of financial records, foreign exchange transactions and shareholder information.
