The French Embassy in Islamabad has issued a public warning urging Pakistanis to stay alert against fraudulent individuals and social media pages claiming they can secure appointments for French consular services. The embassy said these unauthorized offers are misleading and should not be trusted.
According to the embassy, several social media posts have recently appeared advertising appointments for services related to marriage registration, family reunification, and procedures involving the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (OFPRA) and the French Office of Immigration and Integration (OFII).
Some of these advertisements also promise urgent or guaranteed appointments and encourage applicants to contact the operators through private messages or WhatsApp. The embassy has clarified that these individuals have no official connection with the French diplomatic mission and are not authorized to arrange consular appointments.
Officials described these offers as fraudulent and warned applicants against paying money or sharing personal information with anyone claiming they can fast-track or guarantee access to French consular services. The embassy emphasized that appointment scheduling follows official procedures and cannot be manipulated through third parties.
The warning comes amid a rise in online scams targeting visa applicants and individuals seeking immigration or consular assistance. Fraudsters often use social media platforms to impersonate official institutions or present themselves as agents capable of obtaining priority appointments in exchange for payment.
The French Embassy has advised the public to rely only on official communication channels when seeking information about visas, consular services, or appointments. Applicants should verify any information directly through the embassy’s official website and authorized service providers instead of responding to unofficial advertisements circulating online.
People planning to apply for French visas or access other consular services are also encouraged to remain cautious when sharing personal documents, passport details, or financial information. Providing such information to unauthorized individuals could expose applicants to identity theft or financial fraud.
The embassy reiterated that no private individual or unofficial agency can guarantee an appointment or influence the processing of consular requests. Anyone encountering suspicious advertisements or fraudulent offers is advised to ignore them and report them through the appropriate channels.
As international travel continues to increase, authorities are reminding applicants to remain vigilant against scams that exploit demand for visas and immigration services. Following official procedures remains the safest way to access French consular services while avoiding fraudulent schemes.
