The World Championship of Legends (WCL) has officially announced that the semi-final match between Pakistan Champions and India Champions will not take place, as India has chosen to withdraw from the game.
In a public statement on X (formerly Twitter), WCL addressed the situation by highlighting the importance of respecting public sentiment. “While we believe in the power of sport to unify, the views and values of our audience remain paramount,” the organisers said.
WCL added, “We respect the India Champions’ decision to withdraw and equally acknowledge the Pakistan Champions’ readiness. Therefore, the match is officially called off, and Pakistan will move forward to the final.”
Kamil Khan, owner of Pakistan Champions, also confirmed that his team had been granted a walkover. “Their position was clear. If a team doesn’t play, the opponent proceeds. We’ve now officially entered the final.”
Khan further expressed confidence in his squad’s performance. “Our cricket throughout the tournament has been solid. The result, had the match been played, would likely have been the same.”
He clarified that Pakistan was fully prepared for the clash and would have played with equal intensity, regardless of the opponent. “Preparation never stopped for us. Our focus was on readiness, not who we were facing.”
With one step left to glory, Pakistan awaits the result of the other semi-final clash between Australia and South Africa to learn who they’ll meet in the title match.
