Hajj, Umrah Pilgrims to Save Big as Saudi Arabia Rolls Out Rs. 15 Billion Relief Fund

Hajj and Umrah pilgrims are in for a financial reprieve as Saudi Arabia introduces a $40 million fund aimed at reducing the rising costs of religious travel. The relief, equating to approximately Rs. 15 billion, is expected to ease the burden on pilgrims by saving each traveler up to Rs. 50,000.

The announcement was warmly received by Pakistan’s Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, who praised the initiative for its timing and scope. He stressed that such collaborative support is vital to enabling more Muslims to perform their religious duties without economic strain.

Speaking at a recent public gathering, the minister also addressed the much-debated issue of the missing 63,000 Hajj pilgrims. He revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has nullified the previous inquiry report and constituted a new investigative body to provide a transparent review of the incident.

Further strengthening religious cooperation, the ministry will soon publish a citywide prayer calendar in Islamabad to enhance synchronization across sects and mosques.

Minister Yousuf also unveiled plans for group pilgrimages to revered destinations in Iran, Iraq, and Syria, emulating the organized efforts currently in place for Hajj and Umrah.

In dialogue with scholars from the Shia Ulema Council, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to peacebuilding and unity, emphasizing that inclusive policies are essential for religious harmony in Pakistan.
