UAE Gears Up for Ramadan 2026 with Massive Discounts on Essential Food Items

Supermarkets across the UAE have begun extensive preparations for Ramadan 2026, with some retailers starting operations as early as five months in advance to ensure stable prices and uninterrupted supply during the holy month.

Major retail chains are rolling out large-scale promotional campaigns aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers. According to Union Coop, its Ramadan initiative includes discounts of up to 60% on more than 3,000 food and non-food items. These include essential staples such as rice, flour, sugar, cooking oils, poultry, eggs, dates, and fresh produce.

In addition to promotional offers, prices for over 160 essential goods have been frozen throughout Ramadan. This move aligns with the UAE Ministry of Economy’s assurance that nine key basic food items will not see any price increases during the holy month.

The early planning and coordination between retailers and suppliers are intended to prevent shortages, manage demand spikes, and maintain price stability, particularly as household spending typically rises during Ramadan.

The initiative reflects the UAE’s broader efforts to support residents during the fasting month, ensuring affordability, market stability, and consumer confidence across the country.
