Spotify Introduces Feature to Adjust Your Personalized ‘Taste Profile’

Music streaming giant Spotify has announced a new feature allowing users to review and edit their personalized Taste Profile, the algorithmic model that tracks listening habits to generate recommendations. The update, currently rolling out in beta, was revealed at the SXSW conference by Spotify co-CEO Gustav Söderström.

The Taste Profile is central to Spotify’s recommendation engine, influencing curated playlists, daily mixes, and suggested songs. With the new feature, listeners can now refine their profiles by adding or removing artists, genres, and tracks, giving them greater control over the music recommendations they receive.

Spotify said the update reflects user demand for more personalized experiences, empowering listeners to actively shape the algorithms that influence their daily music discovery. The company emphasized that while the feature is in beta, it will gradually roll out to all users across the platform.

By letting users adjust their Taste Profile, Spotify aims to improve engagement and satisfaction, ensuring that recommendations more accurately reflect individual preferences. Music enthusiasts can now fine-tune their listening experience and discover songs that better align with their unique tastes.
