In a transformative 28th cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government gave approval to a series of wide-reaching reforms focusing on labour welfare, recruitment, infrastructure, and emergency preparedness.
The allocation of 1,220 residential flats to industrial workers in Labour Complexes located in Sundar, Taxila, and Kasur was among the most impactful decisions. The Chief Minister further instructed the construction of 3,000 additional units and rejected any cost recovery model, underscoring her commitment to worker welfare.
A significant minimum wage hike to Rs40,000 was also approved for skilled, semi-skilled, and general workers across over 100 sectors. This move aligns with national wage parity goals and aims to counteract inflation pressures.
Heroic efforts by Rescue 1122 during the recent floods were acknowledged, with each responder receiving a Rs50,000 bonus for their frontline service.
The session approved recruitments across key departments, including Right Management Police, Wall City Authority, and Punjab Energy Holding Company. Extensions for over 600 project-based and contract employees were ratified, ensuring institutional continuity.
To encourage transparency and good governance, CM Nawaz ordered audits and third-party oversight of public projects. Regulatory reforms such as the Occupational Safety and Health Rules 2024 and new amendments in charity oversight laws aim to raise safety and ethical standards across Punjab.
Further, the cabinet greenlit digital innovations like online petrol pump licensing, expansion of WASA, and the deployment of AI-driven traffic systems within 90 days.
