Pakistan Embassy in Bangkok Announces Revised E-Passport Fees Effective October 23

The Embassy of Pakistan in Bangkok has announced a revised fee schedule for Pakistani electronic passports following the transition from machine-readable passports (MRPs) to e-passports on October 23, 2026.

The updated charges apply to applicants seeking regular and urgent passport processing. The new schedule also covers different passport page capacities, validity periods and fees for replacing lost passports.

The change is important for Pakistani nationals living in Thailand who need to apply for a new passport, renew an existing document or obtain a replacement. Applicants are advised to review the latest charges and confirm the applicable requirements with the embassy before submitting their applications.

Under the revised schedule, a 36-page e-passport with five-year validity costs 1,500 Thai baht under normal processing. Applicants who require urgent processing for the same passport will pay 2,400 Thai baht.

For a 36-page electronic passport valid for 10 years, the fee is 2,200 Thai baht under normal processing and 3,500 Thai baht under urgent processing.

These charges reflect the announced rates for the two 36-page passport categories. Applicants requiring passports with different page capacities should consult the embassy’s complete fee schedule to determine the applicable amount.

The introduction of the revised charges follows Pakistan’s transition to electronic passports, which incorporate electronic components designed to support modern identity verification and international travel document security standards.

E-passports contain an electronic chip that stores specified personal and biometric information. When used with compatible inspection systems, the technology can help authorities verify a travel document and support more secure border processing.

For Pakistani citizens abroad, access to passport services is an important part of maintaining valid travel documentation. A current passport may be required for international travel, identity verification and various consular or administrative procedures.

The revised fee structure also distinguishes between regular and urgent processing. Applicants should consider their travel plans and allow sufficient time for the relevant procedures, as urgent processing fees do not necessarily guarantee issuance by a particular date unless the embassy confirms the applicable timeline.

Those applying to replace a lost passport should pay particular attention to the separate requirements and charges. Lost-document cases may require additional documentation or verification, depending on the circumstances and the applicable rules.

Applicants are encouraged to prepare the necessary identification documents, photographs or biometric information, where required, and confirm the accepted payment methods before visiting the embassy. Checking these details in advance can help reduce delays and avoid unnecessary trips.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Bangkok is the appropriate point of contact for confirming the complete fee schedule, application procedures and current service requirements for Pakistani nationals in Thailand.

The revised e-passport fees took effect on October 23, 2026. Pakistani citizens planning to apply for or replace their passports should verify the latest official information before making payments or arranging appointments.
