Mega Motor Company (MMC), the official partner of BYD in Pakistan, has renewed its partnership with the BYD Karachi Marathon for the second consecutive year. Alongside the renewed collaboration, the company has announced She Runs, a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at encouraging women’s participation in marathon running.
The BYD Karachi Marathon 2027 is scheduled to take place on January 3, bringing together runners from Pakistan and abroad. Through its continued involvement, MMC aims to support local athletic talent, promote inclusive sports opportunities and contribute to the development of Pakistan’s running culture.
The new She Runs programme will focus on helping women prepare for the marathon through structured training and professional support.
She Runs to Train 10 Women from Karachi
Under the She Runs initiative, Mega Motor Company will fund a 10-week marathon training programme for 10 selected women from Karachi. The programme will provide participants with guidance and resources to help them prepare for the physical demands of long-distance running.
Training support will cover endurance development, nutrition, physiotherapy, safety and overall well-being. This structured approach is designed to help participants build fitness, improve their preparation and work towards completing a full marathon.
According to Anum Abdullah, Senior General Manager of HR, Administration and CSR at Mega Motor Company, the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to creating opportunities for women to pursue their ambitions.
She said the programme aims to make marathon running more accessible by giving aspiring women runners the training, guidance and support needed to take on a full marathon. The initiative also seeks to help participants build confidence and achieve goals they may previously have considered difficult to reach.
BYD Karachi Marathon Expands Its Vision
The BYD Karachi Marathon has positioned itself as a platform for promoting running in Pakistan and connecting local athletes with international sporting standards. Organisers describe it as Pakistan’s first World Athletics-Certified marathon.
Through its Vision 2032, the event aims to create a pathway for Pakistani runners to pursue qualification for major international marathons and, ultimately, the Olympic Games.
The renewed partnership with MMC supports this broader ambition by helping strengthen the event and encourage participation among a wider range of runners.
Shoaib Nizami, Founder of Karachi Marathon, said the company’s continued partnership had helped advance the goal of making running a mainstream sport in Pakistan.
He added that the 2027 edition would aim to be more inclusive, welcoming participants of different ages and abilities. Organisers are also introducing a category for differently abled participants, expanding opportunities for people to take part in the event.
Marathon 2027 to Feature Four Race Categories
The BYD Karachi Marathon 2027 will offer four race categories: the full marathon, half marathon, relay and 5K. The range of options is intended to accommodate participants with different levels of running experience and fitness.
The addition of initiatives such as She Runs is expected to provide aspiring women athletes with a more structured route towards participating in the event. Professional preparation and a supportive training environment are central to the programme’s approach.
Organisers also aim to use the marathon to increase interest in running and create opportunities for Pakistani athletes to pursue competitive goals beyond the country.
Registrations are open for all announced categories. Interested participants can find registration details through the official website at www.karachimarathon.org.
Supporting Women and the Future of Running in Pakistan
The renewed collaboration between Mega Motor Company and the BYD Karachi Marathon highlights the growing role of corporate partnerships in supporting sports development and community initiatives.
Through She Runs, MMC is focusing on women’s access to athletic training, while the marathon’s broader programme seeks to make running more accessible to people of different ages and abilities.
The 2027 event will bring together several race formats, local and international participants, and initiatives designed to encourage wider participation. Its longer-term vision also places emphasis on helping Pakistani runners pursue opportunities on the international stage.
With the marathon scheduled for January 3, 2027, the She Runs programme represents a targeted effort to prepare more women for long-distance running while supporting the continued growth of the sport in Pakistan.
