Bollywood’s Kartik Aaryan Pushing for ‘Aashiqui 3’ Title Restoration After ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ Success

Following his blockbuster stint with the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ franchise, Kartik Aaryan is now focusing on reviving Bollywood’s cherished romance series—‘Aashiqui.’ Initially tapped as the lead for the film, Aaryan is working to reverse a recent title change from ‘Aashiqui 3’ to ‘Tu Aashiqui Hai,’ sparked by a disagreement between T-Series and Vishesh Films over franchise ownership.

The Anurag Basu-directed film was originally set to be a part of the ‘Aashiqui’ brand, but after the dispute, it was reimagined as a standalone romantic drama. Aaryan, however, believes that the franchise’s legacy holds unique value. After witnessing the impact of the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ name, he is lobbying to return ‘Aashiqui 3’ to its roots. According to Bollywood Hungama, Kartik has even urged Bhushan Kumar to engage with Mukesh Bhatt on acquiring the original franchise title.

Why ‘Aashiqui’ Holds a Special Place in Bollywood

The ‘Aashiqui’ series is deeply embedded in Bollywood history, beginning with the 1990 hit that introduced Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal as its lead stars. Its success led to ‘Aashiqui 2’ in 2013, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. Both films delivered unforgettable love stories paired with hauntingly beautiful soundtracks, making the franchise a touchstone for romance in Hindi cinema.

A Busy Year Ahead for Kartik Aaryan

Apart from ‘Aashiqui 3,’ Aaryan is also exploring the idea of a ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ sequel, a project that further demonstrates his faith in franchise appeal. With Anurag Basu currently occupied with ‘Metro…In Dino,’ the production schedule for ‘Aashiqui 3’ may be postponed to next year. In the meantime, Aaryan is set to begin filming for ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh 2,’ directed by Mudassar Aziz, as he continues building a solid foundation in Bollywood’s franchise universe.
