Gold Prices Fall Below Rs. 4.4 Lakh as International Rates Decline

Gold prices in Pakistan recorded a sharp decline on Monday, with the price of 24-karat gold falling below the Rs. 4.4 lakh mark per tola following a decrease in international gold rates.

According to the latest rates released by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold dropped by Rs. 12,800 per tola during the day.

After the decline, the price of one tola of gold settled at Rs. 438,136 in the local market. The latest movement represents a notable daily change for consumers, investors and traders tracking precious metal prices.

The fall in domestic gold prices came as international gold rates also moved lower. Pakistan’s local bullion market generally reflects movements in global gold prices, along with changes in the exchange rate and other market factors.

Gold remains one of the most closely watched commodities in Pakistan, with demand coming from jewellery buyers, investors and households seeking to preserve the value of their savings.

The latest decline may affect buying decisions in the jewellery market, particularly for consumers who have been waiting for a correction in prices. However, gold rates can change frequently as international markets and currency conditions continue to shift.

The Rs. 12,800 decline means that the price of a tola has moved significantly away from its previous level. At Rs. 438,136 per tola, gold remains at a historically elevated level despite Monday’s reduction.

Market participants will continue to monitor international bullion prices for further direction. Global gold rates can respond to a range of factors, including changes in interest-rate expectations, movements in the US dollar, economic data and investor demand for safe-haven assets.

Local gold prices are also influenced by the rupee-dollar exchange rate and conditions within Pakistan’s bullion market. As a result, international price movements do not always translate into identical changes in the domestic market.

For jewellery buyers, the quoted bullion rate is also only one component of the final purchase price. Making charges, wastage and other applicable costs can increase the amount consumers ultimately pay for jewellery.

Investors and traders typically follow the APGJSA’s daily rates as a reference for the local gold market. The association’s latest update provides the benchmark following Monday’s substantial decline.

With international gold prices remaining an important driver, further changes in global markets could influence Pakistan’s gold rates in the coming sessions.

For now, the latest APGJSA rate places 24-karat gold at Rs. 438,136 per tola, following a daily decrease of Rs. 12,800. The move takes the precious metal below the Rs. 4.4 lakh level in Pakistan’s local market.
