Babil Khan Responds to Backlash Over Honoring Irrfan Khan’s Legacy

Irrfan Khan’s Son Opens Up About Grief, Expectations, and Accusations

Babil Khan, son of late Bollywood icon Irrfan Khan, has spoken out against allegations that he is exploiting his father’s death to further his own acting career. The 20-something actor, who debuted in the 2022 Netflix film Qala, said the accusations are not only unfounded but deeply hurtful.

In a recent interview with an Indian media outlet, Babil said, “When Baba passed, everything changed overnight. The attention came too fast. I wasn’t emotionally prepared for it.”

Social Media Memories Misunderstood

Since 2020, Babil has often taken to Instagram to post heartfelt notes and photos of his father. While fans mostly appreciated his vulnerability, others viewed the posts as a publicity tactic.

Babil addressed these accusations directly: “If I had been trying to exploit Baba’s name, I wouldn’t be out here grinding—auditioning for roles like everyone else. I shared those moments because people gave us love, and I wanted to reciprocate.”

He continued, “I never did it for attention. It was my way of coping—and showing gratitude.”

Dealing With the Downside of Fame

Babil also acknowledged the dual nature of public life. “There’s always balance—white and black, yin and yang. If you try to live in the middle, you get pulled in both directions,” he said.

Though the negativity hurt, he made a conscious choice to stay focused. “Yes, it affected me. But I knew I had to keep sharing, keep being real.”

Embracing Emotion and Identity

The rising star said he refuses to suppress his emotions just to fit into the industry mold. “I’m an emotional person. I cry, I laugh, I feel everything deeply. I won’t change that because of what others think.”

Babil’s focus remains on carving out his own space in cinema—while never forgetting the emotional bond he shared with his late father.
