The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Development Working Party (DWP) has approved several major development projects for Islamabad, including the Rs. 24.5 billion 11th Avenue road project and three new sports arenas in different sectors of the capital.
The approvals are part of the authority’s ongoing development programme aimed at improving road connectivity and expanding recreational and sports facilities across Islamabad.
The DWP approved the PC-I for the 7.5-kilometre 11th Avenue project, which will connect Margalla Avenue with IJP Road.
The planned road is expected to provide an additional east-west connection within the capital and improve connectivity between important road networks.
According to the project plan, 11th Avenue will have three lanes on each side. The road infrastructure is expected to be developed with the objective of improving traffic movement and providing motorists with an alternative route.
The estimated cost of the project has been set at Rs. 24.5 billion. Once construction begins, the project is expected to be completed within one year.
The proposed connection between Margalla Avenue and IJP Road could also become an important component of Islamabad’s wider road network as traffic volumes increase in different parts of the city.
The project is part of a broader focus on improving transportation infrastructure in the federal capital, where road expansion and connectivity remain key development priorities.
Alongside the 11th Avenue project, the CDA’s Development Working Party also approved three new sports arenas in F-8, D-12 and G-11.
