Punjab Food Authority Seizes 33,750 Kg of Expired Food Items in Lahore Warehouse Raid

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has seized 33,750 kilograms of expired food products during a major enforcement operation conducted at a warehouse belonging to a well-known food brand in Lahore.

The raid was carried out by PFA enforcement teams under the directives of Director General Syed Musa Raza. The warehouse, located on Raiwind (Jati Umra) Road, was targeted as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to curb food fraud and ensure food safety standards across the province.

According to officials, inspectors discovered a large quantity of expired food items stored at the facility. The seized products were allegedly being kept in violation of food safety regulations, raising concerns about public health and consumer protection.

During the operation, authorities arrested two individuals suspected of involvement in unlawful food-related activities. A First Information Report (FIR) was also registered against those allegedly connected to the case, paving the way for further legal proceedings.

The Punjab Food Authority stated that strict action is being taken against businesses and individuals found violating food safety laws. Officials emphasized that the sale, storage, or distribution of expired food products poses serious risks to public health and will not be tolerated.

Food safety experts warn that consuming expired products can lead to various health complications, including foodborne illnesses and other medical concerns. Regulatory authorities therefore continue to conduct inspections and enforcement operations to safeguard consumers from unsafe food practices.

Director General Syed Musa Raza reiterated the authority’s commitment to maintaining high food safety standards throughout Punjab. He stressed that businesses involved in food production, storage, and distribution must comply with established regulations to ensure the availability of safe and quality products in the market.

The latest raid highlights the Punjab Food Authority’s intensified campaign against food adulteration, misbranding, and fraudulent practices. In recent years, the agency has expanded its monitoring and inspection efforts to improve compliance and strengthen consumer confidence in food products.

Authorities have indicated that investigations into the matter will continue, and additional action may be taken if further violations are uncovered. The seized products will be disposed of in accordance with regulatory procedures to prevent them from entering the consumer market.

The operation serves as a reminder of the importance of strict food safety oversight and the role of regulatory agencies in protecting public health. Consumers are also encouraged to check product labels and expiry dates before making purchases to avoid potential health risks.
