The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has warned of a potential nationwide closure of petrol pumps if urgent issues within the fuel sector are not addressed, raising concerns over a looming fuel crisis in Pakistan.
In a formal letter addressed to Ali Pervaiz Malik, the association requested an immediate meeting to discuss operational challenges, financial pressures, and sudden policy changes affecting the petroleum industry. The letter, dated March 25, 2026, follows an earlier communication sent on March 6 that reportedly received no response from the ministry.
The association emphasized that nearly 14,000 to 15,000 petrol pump owners nationwide are directly impacted by the current situation. It stressed that excluding key stakeholders from policy-making decisions could destabilize the sector, potentially forcing petrol pumps to suspend operations countrywide.
Industry experts warn that a shutdown could trigger severe fuel shortages, disrupt transportation networks, and negatively impact economic activity across multiple sectors. The association underscored that responsibility for any resulting crisis would rest with the petroleum ministry if timely measures are not taken.

This warning comes amid mounting pressures on Pakistan’s energy sector, including volatile international fuel prices and domestic supply constraints. Analysts note that urgent engagement between the government and industry stakeholders is essential to prevent escalation and ensure continued fuel availability for consumers and businesses.
With tensions rising, the government faces increasing pressure to address operational and financial concerns of petrol pump owners to maintain stability in the energy sector. Stakeholders are calling for swift dialogue to avert disruptions that could have wide-reaching economic consequences.
