Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal is enjoying the joys of fatherhood after welcoming his first child with wife Katrina Kaif in November 2025. While embracing his new role as a parent, Vicky revealed a thoughtful milestone he looks forward to—showing his baby boy his breakthrough film, Masaan.
At the NDTV Indian of the Year 2025 awards in Delhi, where Vicky was honoured as Actor of the Year, he reflected on fatherhood and the evolution of his personal life. When asked which of his films he would like his son to watch first, he replied, “Wow, the first film. I would like him to watch my first film. Masaan. It’s a nice film. I know it’s a hard film to watch, so maybe later on, not too early on in his life… But it shows life as life is.”
Masaan, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, marked Vicky Kaushal’s debut as a leading actor. The critically acclaimed drama tells the story of Deepak Kumar, a civil engineering student who works part-time at the cremation ghats along the Ganges. Exploring themes of life, death, grief, love, and social stigma, the film earned Vicky widespread recognition and laid the foundation for his successful career.
Vicky also shared his thoughts on raising a child under public scrutiny, emphasizing the importance of guarding his family’s privacy without fear. He said, “The one principle that I live by is that the thing you fear the most is the thing you attract the most… Guarding my privacy doesn’t come with the emotion of fear. We really would want some part of our personal life to be away from that limelight.”
The actor and Katrina Kaif tied the knot on December 9, 2021, at Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan. The couple announced the arrival of their baby boy with a heartfelt post: “Our bundle of joy has arrived. With immense love and gratitude, we welcome our baby boy.”
Professionally, 2025 was a landmark year for Vicky, with Chhaava becoming one of India’s highest-grossing films, collecting 807 Indian crores worldwide. He will next appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, continuing his streak of critically and commercially successful projects.
