The children of renowned American filmmaker Rob Reiner have issued their first public statement following the shocking deaths of their parents and the arrest of their brother on murder charges.
Jake and Romy Reiner, the son and daughter of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, said they are struggling to process an overwhelming and unimaginable loss after what they described as a devastating family tragedy.
“Unimaginable Pain,” Say Reiner Siblings
In a statement released on Wednesday and reported by People, Jake and Romy expressed deep grief over the violent deaths of both parents.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” the statement read. “The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
The siblings said they are still coming to terms with the emotional impact of the tragedy, which has shaken both their family and the wider public.

Family Requests Privacy Amid Investigation
Jake and Romy also acknowledged the support they have received since the news became public, thanking family, friends, and well-wishers from around the world.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support,” the statement continued. “We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”

Brother Appears in Court on Murder Charges
The statement was released on the same day their brother, Nick Reiner, appeared in court for the first time.
The 32-year-old waived his right to enter a plea on two counts of first-degree murder during Wednesday’s hearing. Authorities allege that Nick Reiner fatally stabbed both of his parents.
He was arrested on Sunday and is currently being held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.

Authorities Confirm Homicide
Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead at their Los Angeles residence on Sunday. On Wednesday, the county medical examiner confirmed that both deaths were homicides caused by multiple sharp force injuries.
The Los Angeles Police Department stated earlier this week that Nick Reiner was responsible for the killings. However, officials have not yet released details regarding the evidence, circumstances, or any potential motive.

Nick Reiner is scheduled to remain in custody until his next court hearing on January 7.
