In a major step toward strengthening regional connectivity, Iran Air has announced the launch of direct flight operations between Mashhad and Lahore, beginning October 29, 2025.

According to the airline, the new route will operate once a week, providing travelers with a convenient and direct link between Iran and Pakistan. The service aims to facilitate travel for both pilgrims and business communities, reflecting growing cooperation in the aviation and tourism sectors between the two neighboring countries.

The announcement marks another milestone in Iran-Pakistan air connectivity, following last month’s decision to launch a Tehran-Islamabad direct route. That initiative was confirmed by Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam, who emphasized that the development was made possible through extensive coordination between the two governments.

“With the valued support and follow-up of stakeholders from both sides, a comprehensive agreement has been successfully reached in the field of air transportation,” Ambassador Moghadam stated, highlighting the significance of this new phase in bilateral ties.

The launch of the Mashhad-Lahore route is expected to ease travel for religious pilgrims, particularly those visiting the holy sites in Mashhad, one of Iran’s most important spiritual destinations. It also opens new opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, strengthening people-to-people contact and enhancing economic relations between the two nations.

Aviation analysts note that this expansion of air routes underscores both countries’ commitment to deepening regional integration and boosting cross-border mobility through improved air transport infrastructure.
